Spring is finally arriving here in Pennsylvania. Every morning when I fill my bird feeder I am amazed at all the birds singing. You realize how quiet they are in the winter. I never tire of hearing the Cheer!! Cheer!! Cheer!! of the cardinal. What a way to start your day with a song announcing your day like that, how can one not be cheerful! With the arrival of the first daffodils and tulips my first shows have started. A few weeks ago I was in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. This is the heart of Amish Country. The fields were being plowed in anticipation of putting in a new year of crops. The Quilter's Heritage show at the Lancaster Host was so beautiful, with the array of quilts. I could not believe the beautiful bright colors. My favorites are still the traditional piecework. I wish I had my camera, I would be sharing photos with you.

I love hummingbirds. Watching them flit among my fuchsias and feeders is pure entertainment. I designed a hummingbird fabric, that is not in print. I had so much fun with the designs that I decided to make a quilt with the patterns that I developed. It was fun to make my own special quilt with my paintbrush! |

| “Spring Awakening” was painted during a beautiful spring day of sunshine and the awakening of tulips, crocuses and the first leaves on the trees. The mornings were skies of baby blues and golden afternoons. |
“Palm Tree Breezes” was painted during the very hot and humid summer. I had no air conditioning and my studio was very warm. I kept cool by imagining I was on a beach with a cool drink enjoying an ocean breeze. Hey, cheaper than air conditioning! |

| “Autumn Patchwork” We had a very late fall this year, and trees were late in their vibrant color . . . but they were beautiful when they changed. 22" x 30" |
“Christmas on the Farm” (above) & “Winter Joy II” (below) were painted this lovely season. Christmas spirit surrounded me in my studio, so I did two quiltscapes this year for our special season of joy. |
